KALA Ukulele Bass
U-BASS-SMHG-FL
- Polyurethane strings
- Round wound strings
|
|
Own 2 KALA U-BASS Solid Mahogany Fretless basses.
One is for "Road Toad Pahoehoe Polyurethane strings" as substitution of upright bass. It has wonderful tone even for acoustic jazz.
The other is for "KALA Silver Plated Round Wound strings" as substitution of electric bass. Nut and bridge, both are made with TUSQ, are lowered to get closer tone of Jaco Pastorius',
It's so useful by mounting piezo pickup, made by Shadow, and preamp/tuner, made by Hipshot. I've tried some amplifiers for U-BASS, and found out BassCub, by Phil Jones Bass, is the best answer for polyurethane strings. Round wound strings doesn't care about amps.
It's good if using with preamps such as ZOOM B3n, B2-1u, SansAmp BassDriver and so on.
Ukulele Bass could be the mainstream of live music by its wonderful sound and huge advantage for portability.
